Excursion to Lake Roca

The area can be visited by car, remisse or by taking the different excursions organized by the local travel agencies.

El Calafate and Lake Roca are connected by the Road nº 15 that, at first, runs across the typical Patagonian steppe, which is populated by different bushes as coiron, black bush and calafate, among others. The visitors will also notice that there are some estancias along the way, such as: Huyliche, Anita, Alta Vista, Chorrillo Malo, Lago Roca and Nibepo Aike.
Once the group gets into the national park (Lake Roca Sector), the visitor will observe the transition of the Andean Patagonian Forest, which is mostly dominated by high deciduous beech.
The sector offers the perfect conditions to camp because it has many beautiful places protected from the winds. There are also different options to practise trekking across the surrounding hills and some rock art sites.
Lake Roca is a perfect stream to practise sport fishing, because it is populated by brown and rainbow trouts, among other species.
